The classic skittle alley is found mainly in Southern and Eastern Germany, as well as in Central and Eastern Europe. The forerunner of the classic skittle alley was the asphalt skittle alley. The name was changed because today the running surfaces are no longer made of asphalt but of plastic.

Where can you find a classic skittle alley?
The classic skittle alley is found mainly in Southern and Eastern Germany, as well as in Central and Eastern Europe.

The forerunner of the classic skittle alley was the asphalt skittle alley. The name was changed because today the running surfaces are no longer made of asphalt but of plastic.



Dimensions
The running surface has no grooving: it is flat, and has a straight course with a width of 1.30 to 1.50 metres. The length is 19.50 metres.

The run-up is 5.50 metres or, in sports alleys, 6.50 metres long and 1.70 metres wide. The total length of a classic skittle alley is 27.0 or 28.0 metres. The total width of a single alley is 2.50 metres, while 4.40 metres are needed for a double lane.

 


SCISSOR SKITTLE ALLEY

Where can you find a scissor skittle alley?
The scissor skittle alley is found mainly in Western Germany and Northern Hesse, but is also very popular in the Benelux countries, France, Italy and Brazil.

Dimensions
For the first 9.50 metres, a scissor skittle alley is 35 cm wide and has a straight course. Then the running surface widens steadily to reach a width of 1.25 metres. The running surface has a groove and rises by 10 cm from front to back.

The run-up is 5.50 metres or, in sports alleys, 6.50 metres long and 1.45 metres wide. The total length of the ball running surface is 18 metres. The total length of a scissor skittle alley is 25.50 metres or 26.50 metres. The total width of a single lane is 2.50 metres, while 4.40 metres are needed for a double lane.

 

 

PLANK SKITTLE ALLEY

Where can you find a plank skittle alley?
The plank skittle alley is found mainly in Northern Germany, as well as in Denmark, Poland and Namibia.

Dimensions
The running surface of the plank skittle alley is 0.35 metres wide, with a slight groove, and rises by 10 cm from front to back.
The run-up is 5.50 metres or, in sports alleys, 6.50 metres long and 1.45 metres wide. The total length of the ball running surface is 23.50 metres. The total length of a plank skittle alley is 30.0 or 31.0 metres. The total width of a single lane is 2.50 metres, while for a double lane 4.40 metres are required.
